WORKSHOPS
Are you needing more guidance in your singing and/or acting? Are you still struggling to work through some of your technical challenges so that you can sing the kinds of songs that you actually want to sing (as opposed to what your existing technical skills tell you that you can sing)? Are you planning to audition for collegiate musical theatre programs or professional or community theatre productions?
These online vocal technique and acting workshops, masterclasses, and classes are an excellent way to focus on and begin honing specific skills that will help you take your singing and/or acting to the next level.
While it's impossible to completely master singing and/or acting technique with just 1.5-3 hours of group instruction, you will walk away from these workshops, masterclasses, and classes with a more accurate understanding of:
how your voice works
how to create vocal sound in a healthy, efficient manner
some practical tools (e.g., exercises, tips) for developing the desired skill and applying it to your singing and/or acting
There will be time for questions and those who are registered will have access to the Zoom video recordings afterwards.

The Singing 101 workshop is designed with the beginner to intermediate level singer (ages 12 through adult) in mind, although it would be informative for the experienced singer, as well. This is an ideal workshop for supplementing what you've been learning in choir and/or private singing lessons.
While it's impossible to completely master singing technique in just an hour-and-a-half, my hope is that you will walk away from the Singing 101 Workshop with a more accurate understanding of how your voice works and some practical tools for improving your singing. There will be time set aside at the end of the workshop for participants to ask specific questions regarding singing technique.

Acting Technique Classes (online)
In this class for adults and teens (14+), we’re going to explore some method acting techniques that will help us create an authentic, believable, and moving performance.
Class 1: Through an exercise that I call “Play It 3 Ways,” students will explore various emotions (e.g., anger/rage, excitement/joy, sadness/grief, etc.) through short 2-3 sentence ‘scripts.’ They’ll explore the many facets and intensities of those emotions and begin to learn about how mindful pacing of line delivery, body position, inflection of the voice, gesturing, facial expression, etc. can add greater depth and believability to their performances. They’ll also begin to learn about intention (motivation) and the importance of understanding the relationships between their characters and the characters to whom they’re speaking and the stories that have led up to the moment in which the lines are being spoken.
For the next class, acting students will be asked to have selected a monologue (dramatic or comedic) and to have begun memorizing it.
Class 2: Actors will read through the monologues that they’ve selected and we’ll begin to delve more deeply into character development through script analysis and one-on-one acting coaching.
Class 3: In this last class, actors will perform their monologues for the group. With some more coaching through their acting technique, they’ll polish their technique and deliver a truly powerful monologue performance.
